Mumbai Cops down Sunday Boys 1-0

Mumbai, November 30: Greater Mumbai Police pulled off a 1-0 win over Sunday Boys in a First Division match of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League 2016-2017, and played at the St. Xavier’s ground, Parel on Wednesday evening.
The policemen scored the lone goal of the match through the efforts of Firoz Ali who managed to find success in the 29th minute.

Results – Div-I: Greater Mumbai Police 1 (Firoz Ali) beat Sunday Boys 0.

Abhay Amin hit six as Amateurs win big

Mumbai: Abhay Amin grabbed the opening day’s honours by notching a fine hat-trick to power Karnatak Amateurs SC to a comfortable 6-0 win against Shree Krishna SC in a first round match of the 10th Late Adv. A.R. Kudrolli Memorial Knockout Football Tournament 2016, conducted by The Karnatak Sporting Association and played at the KSA ground, Cross Maidan. 

Amin received good support from his teammates Clayton D’Souza who struck a brace of goals and Nimesh Shetty with one to complete the margin of victory.

In the second match of the day, Mogaveera Sports Club got the better of Uchil United Sports Club by a 5-4 margin via the tie-breaker after the match finished in a goalless draw. Hetan Kalsetkar, Vinil Poojary, Hitesh Karkera, Prakyath Shetty and Bloecher Mendes successfully converted from the penalty spot for Mogaveera, while Uchil managed to score through Sudarshan Kamat, Tejas Kanchan, Sachin Shettigar and Surendra Belchada.

Earlier, Narayan Jathan, former Central Bank of India footballer and Rajesh Josh, Chief Manager, State Bank of India, Mumbai, presided as Chief Guest at the inaugural match.

Results: Karnatak Amateurs 6 (Abhay Amin 3, Clayton D’Souza 2, Nimesh Shetty) beat Shree Krishna SC 0.

Mogaveera Sports Club 5 (Hetan Kalsetkar, Vinil Poojary, Hitesh Karkera, Prakyath Shetty, Bloecher Mendes) beat Uchil United Sports Club 4 (Sudarshan Kamat, Tejas Kanchan, Sachin Shettigar, Surendra Belchada) via the tie-breaker. Full-time: 0-0

Akash Jadhav on target for PIFA Under-19

Mumbai: PIFA Colaba Under-19 hung on to their first half advantage to clinch a hard-fought 1-0 win against Somaiya Vidyavihar in a MDFA First Division match at the St. Xavier's ground, Parel on Tuesday.  Striker Akash Jadhav netted lone winning goal in the 14th minute for the PIFA youngsters. 

Earlier, Pizan Kodia struck the only goal as Godrej & Boyce SC overcame Supreme FC by a 1-0 margin in a Second Division encounter. 

Results - First Division: PIFA Colaba Under-19 1 (Akash Jadhav) beat Somaiya Vidyavihar 0.

Second Division: Godrej & Boyce SC 1 (Pizan Kodia) beat Supreme FC 0.

Karm nets hat-trick to take Mumbai FC into the final

Mumbai: Karm Mulchandani hogged the limelight by notching up a fine hat-trick which helped Mumbai FC clinch a tight 3-2 win against a spirited J.J. Academy in a semi-final match of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) Youth (U-14) League 2016, promoted by the Sporting Lions and Mumbai City FC and played at the Lions Municipal Sports Complex, Vile Parle. Striker Pratik Vaplkry netted both the goals for J.J. Academy who put up a strong fight.

In the second semi-final, MSSA got the better of Goans SA 4-3 via the penalty shootout tie-breaker after the scores were deadlocked goalless at the end of regulation period. Kris Benson, Anson Tauro, Nihal Dudwadkar and Amey Kadam were successful for MSSA in the tie-breaker, while Goans converted through Nilay Sole, Arya Giandharva and Ryan Shah.

Mumbai FC and MSSA will meet in the grand finale, which is scheduled to be played on Sunday, December 4 at 10.30 am at the Lions Municipal Sports Complex, Vile Parle. The Third place match between Goans SA and J.J. Academy will be played earlier at 8.30 am.

Results – semi-finals: Mumbai FC 3 (Karm Mulchandani 3) beat J.J. Academy 2 (Pratik Vaplkry).
MSSA 4 (Kris Benson, Anson Tauro, Nihal Dudwadkar, Amey Kadam) beat Goans SA 3 (Nilay Sole, Arya Giandharva, Ryan Shah) via the tie-breaker. Full-time 0-0.

Egypsio, Alroy strike in ESIC’s 2-0 victory

Mumbai, November 26: ESIC (Employee’s State Insurance Corporation) scored once in each half to blank Mumbai Warriors 2-0 in a First Division match of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League 2016-2017, and played at the St. Xavier’s ground, Parel.

Prolific and consistent striker Egypsio Noronha put ESIC in front with a opportunistic strike in the 23rd minute. Later, Alroy D’Souza added the second from another good finish in the 57th minute to secure ESIC’s comfortable win.

Meanwhile, Datta Krida Mandal did well to overcome GKW Rangers by a 3-1 margin in a Second Division encounter. Tahir Shaikh, Bernard Rosario and Vaibhav Vaity, all with one goal each scored for the Mandal outfit while Aman S. got the lone goal for the losers.

In another Second Division encounter, Nasseb Reloaded and Sporting Options played out a 1-1 draw. Shoaib Shah scored for Naseeb, while Paritosh Gohil got Options goal.

Results – Div-II: Datta Krida Mandal 3 (Tahir Shaikh, Bernard Rosario, Vaibhav Vaity) beat GKW Rangers 1 (Aman S.).

Naseeb Reloaded 1(Shoaib Shah) drew with Sporting Options 1(Paritosh Gohil).
Div-I: ESIC 2 (Egypsio Noronha, Alroy D'Souza) beat Mumbai Warrior 0.

Goregaon SC share honours with Goans

Mumbai: Goregaon Sports Club and Goan Sports Association shared hounours as they played out a 1-1 draw in a First Division match of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League 2016-2017, and played at the St. Xavier’s ground, Parel on Wednesday evening.

After a barren first half, the Goregaon outfit took the lead with striker Gaurav Salvi finding the net in the 76th minute. But Goans fought back and managed to restore parity through Clinton Calvin’s late strike in the 85th minute.

Results – Div-I: Goregaon SC 1 (Gaurav Salvi) drew with Goan SA 1 (Clinton Calvin).

Justin Paul nets winner for Steadfast

Mumbai, November 22: Justin Paul netted the all-important winning goal as Steadfast FC got the better of Theresian SC in a First Division match of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League 2016-2017, and played at the St. Xavier’s ground, Parel on Tuesday evening.

Earlier in a Second Division encounter, Rahul Mitra Mandal blanked Charkop FC 2-0. Strikers Krysbur Pereira and Monish Panchal were bang on target with a goal each to seal the Mandal’s win.

Results – Div-II: Rahul Mitra Mandal 2 (Krysbur Pereira, Monish Panchal) beat Charkop FC (Jatin Koli).
Div-II: Steadfast FC 1 (Justin Paul) bat Theresian SC 0.
